With a new season arriving, now is a great time to spring clean our medicine cabinets of all unused or expired prescription medications. It is important to dispose of them safely and promptly to help reduce the chance of others accidentally taking the medicine.

1. Mix medicines with an unpalatable substance such as dirt, kitty litter or used coffee grounds
2. Place the mixture in a container such as sealed plastic bag
3. Throw the container in your household trash
4. Scratch out all personal information on the prescription label of your empty pill bottles or packaging before dispose of the container
